Abstract

Introduction. During the COVID-19 pandemic, doctors in many countries have gained extensive experience in the course of pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 and its complications. Today, it is extremely important to develop new approaches to the treatment of this pathology that would be aimed at overcoming endogenous intoxication, which plays a major role in the development of complications.

Objective. To evaluate the effectiveness of efferent therapy based on nanoparticle silica in treatment of pneumonia caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Materials and methods. The research was conducted in 79 patients with CAP caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. They were divided into study group (39 patients) and comparison group (40 patients). which were representative by age and sex. In the comparison group, patients received traditional therapy, and in the study group additionally was performed enterosorption with nanoparticle silica. Evaluation of treatment efficacy was performed by clinical, laboratory, microbiology methods and methods of endogenous intoxication determination.

Research results. Studies have shown that patients, who were treated by developed method, had more favorable course of disease due to faster normalization of clinical and laboratory indicators of endogenous intoxication. The number of complications in study group was significantly (p?0.05) lower than in comparison group. The use of the developed method in treatment of patients with CAP and SARS-CoV-2 virus allowed decrease time of patient?s hospitalization, reduce the number of complications and mortality.
