Abstract

Tuberculosis is the 2nd leading infectious disease killer after COVID-19.TB is associated with various non-communicable diseases, which complicate the treatment and its results.Studying  the mortality of tuberculosis patients by associated diseases and other causesWas done comparative, retrospective analysis of 222 cases of death due to TB, associated diseases and other causes in Chisinau in 2 time periods was carried out: period I (2001-2003) - 157 and period II (2018-2020) - 65 cases. The primary material of the study was collected from the clinical observation sheets of the deceased patients, and the outpatient medical records according to the developed questionnaire.In the first period 130 (82.8%) and in the second period 56 (86.2%) patients died of other diseases. In period II, compared to period I, there is an increase in oncological pathology, the number of liver and cardiovascular system diseases decreased, cerebral stroke, pneumonia, chronic alcoholism, diabetes remained at the same level, and several new causes of death appeared - perforating ulcer, Covid-19, thromboembolism art. mesenteric.In both periods patients also died from other causes: In period I(27 -17,2 %) ? septicemia ? 2; road accidents -15, freezing - 8 and suicides - 2 cases; In period II (9-13,8%)- peritonitis -2, drowning - 2, frostbite - 2, drug overdose - 2 and suicide - 1 case.The most common associated diseases that contributed to the death of tuberculosis patients were: oncological pathology, cardiac system, cerebral stroke. Remained at the same level - diabetes mellitus and chronic alcoholism. Deaths from liver disease and other causes has decreased. New causes of death by perforating ulcers and COVID 19 have appeared.
