Abstract

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic led to the readaptaion and reorganization of healthcare systems. 

Objectives: To characterize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on specialized rehabilitation nursing care available to respiratory patients; to characterize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on technical update strategies; provide information to decision-makers for better management of human resources and specialized nursing care to populations. 

Methodology: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. Non-probabilistic sample of convenience of nurses specialized in rehabilitation nursing. Data were collected throughout out an online questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential analysis was performed. 

Results: During the COVID pandemic period we verified a negative impact on the dimensions "time for friends" and "time for personal leisure", and a positive impact on the dimensions "relationship with colleagues" and "availability of personal protective equipment. For the future data showed a perception of negative impact on the dimensions "bureaucratic activities", "personal health", "time for friends", and "time for personal leisure", and a positive impact on the dimensions "availability of personal protective equipment" and "organization of physical space in the workplace". 

Discussion: This study made available data that potentially would serve as guidance for the implementation of changes in the dynamics of work and services structures. 

Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on several dimensions of nurses specialized care. Future studies that allow to know this impact in the long term, or directed to the autonomous interventions of the nurses are needed.
