Abstract

Introduction

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) results in significant impact on QOL.The St George?s Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ) is validated in CF.The VQ11 questionnaire perfectly assesses the QOL of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,is not time consuming and has not been validated in CF.

Aim : Explore the usefulness of the VQ11 score by comparing it to the SGRQ.

Methods :

A prospective descriptive and analytical bicentric study including 37 patients with CF from September 2021.QOL was evaluated by the 2 questionnaires in the validated Arabic version.Correlation was assessed by Spearman's"r"coefficient. The validation of the VQ11 for assessement of QOL was made by 2 ways:1/A statistically significant correlation coefficient (r)>+0.70 between the total scores of the VQ11 and the SGRQ will be in favor of the validation of the VQ11.2/Patients will be divided into two groups according to the total score of the VQ11.Statistically significant differences between the four scores provided by the SGRQ will be in favor of QV11 validation.

Results :

The mean age was 50.92 ± 16 years. Sex Ratio was 0.7.There was a strong correlation between the SGRQ score and the VQ 11 score (r=0.8 >0.7).There was also a statistically significant relationship between the different dimensions of the SGRQ score and the total VQ11 score.Indeed, higher scores in the 3 dimensions as well as the total SGRQ score are associated with an impaired QOL according to the VQ11 score.

Conclusion :

The VQ11 score is a useful score in current practice for the evaluation of the QOL in Tunisian patients with CF.
