Abstract

Introduction

Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The epidemiological, clinical, and radiological characteristics of lung cancer may vary among different populations .The aim of our study is to describ epidemiological , clinical and radiological characteristics and survival in patients with confirmed lung cancer.

Methods

we conducted a retrospective cohort study about patients with confirmed lung cancer from january 2012 to december 2021.

Results

A total of 182 patients were icluded .Our population consisted on 93% male and 7% female. Median age was 64 (range 42-85), 17patients were never smokers .Assessment of general condition at diagnosis using the WHO PS score revealed PS <2 in 111 patients (69, 8%).the most frequent histologic types were adenocarcinoma in 53% and squamous cell carcinoma in (32%). Chemotherapy was started in an average of 52,69 days.. 64% of patients were diagnosed in a stage IV . 20 patients had a palliative supportive care. The average overall survival was 9.1±12.7 months. The average survival at 1, 3, and 5 years was 26.4%, 5%, and 1.9%, respectively.

conclusion:our study shows that in our region, lung cancer is diagnosed at an advanced stage and survival remains poor
