Introduction:
Since the emergence of COVID 19 pandemic, we have observed persistence of several symptoms despite recovery.
Aims and objectives:
The objective of our study is to demonstrate the prevalence of post-COVID 19 symptoms in patients cured of SARS-COV-2.
Materials and methods:
We conducted in January 2023 a comprehensive descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study carried out among patients treated for a confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection within the Hassan II Hospital of Agadir, by sending a questionnaire online.
Results:
414 patients responded to the questionnaire. The average age was 36.9 ± 14.16 years (extremes 18-89 years), with female predominance (60.4%).
79% of our patients reported no previous history. While 21% had comorbidities dominated by: depression in 6.3%, asthma in 6% and dysthyroidia in 3.9% of the cases. 87.1% were vaccinated against COVID19 of which 34.3% with 2 doses.
97.3% of our patients were treated at home. Of the 2.7% hospitalized, 15% were in intensive care.
33.1% kept clinical symptoms after recovery dominated by: asthenia in 49%, anosmia in 17.4%, arthralgia in 15.7%, dyspnea in 14.3%, cough in 13.8%, headache in 11,1%, myalgia in 10,1%, dysgeusia in 8,7%, vertigo in 7,7%, anorexia in 7%, diarrhea in 6,3%, sore throat in 5,8%, chest pain in 4,8% and conjunctivitis in 3,4% of the cases.
Only 2,8% continued to wear a mask after the pandemic.
Conclusion:
The results of this work showed that fatigue and anosmia were the most prevalent post-COVID-19 symptoms.
