Abstract

Introduction:The poor sleep quality affects our work development. In people who work in the health area these effects can lead to serious errors that can compromise the recovery time, the appearance of new complications and even death, so the fact of recognizing and controlling this factors is necessary to improve the quality of life of our patients and health professionals

Objectives:To evaluate the subjective perception of sleep quality among health professionals of a University Hospital, identify the factors that contribute to the appearance of these changes and establish strategies to control them

Methods:A retrospective study was carried out with data from 221 participants; data were obtained by applying a digital questionnaire containing basic identification information and also the subjective evaluation test of sleep quality:Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), collected between December 2022- January2023.Health professionals from the different areas of a University Hospital participated in the study, but excluding physicians

Results:The data of 211employees were analyzed, after calculating PSQI, 14% had good sleep quality and 85%had various sleep disorders. When correlating the different variables, it was shown that sleep efficiency, sleep time and night shifts were associated with worse sleep quality, with a P-value<0.0001 for the first and 0.028for the third factor. In this sample, age, gender, profession and current residency did not show statesman relevance

Conclusion:This study showed, as in many others, that efficiency and sleep time were the main factors involved in this alteration
