Session aims
to provide an update on the management of PE in pregnancy; to describe the distinctive features of patients with lung cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT); to highlight the relationship between PE and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA); and to provide an update about the role of residual pulmonary vascular obstruction (RPVO) in the assessment of the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) recurrences, as for patients’ evolution with the newly suggested chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease (CTEPD) syndrome; to provide an update about correct diagnosis and treatment in this population, which is crucial for all pulmonologists, who may be involved in many different steps (ruling out the diagnosis, managing some difficult cases, proposing secondary thromboprophylaxis, etc.). to provide an update about management, outcomes and phenotypes of patients with lung CAT; to present information about the relationship between OSA and PE that suggest a possible connection between OSA and abnormal haemostasias; to review current evidence about the association between OSA and PE, as well as PE prognosis in patients with OSA; to discuss the key role of respiratory physicians in the follow-up of patients with PE.
