to place recent insights into the molecular pathogenesis of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) into the context of the existing state of the art knowledge of CTEPH and its implementation in current clinical guidelines; to answer the question is whether and how these insights into pathophysiology will change future treatment of CTEPH and determine prognosis and outcomes for patients; to discuss novel targets for treatment and improvements in pharmacological therapy
