Session aims
to explain the cellular, structural and functional changes that take place in the ageing lung; to evaluate the physiological and immunological changes in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and interstitial lung disease compared with their healthy age-matched counterparts; to familiarise participants with the diagnostic approach as well as the available therapeutic interventions to combat the consequences of the ageing lung; to explain chronic respiratory diseases across the life course and their associations with frailty.
