Pulmonary rehabilitation for children reveals stark global healthcare disparities between the global North and South.
In high-income countries, comprehensive programmes offer multidisciplinary care integrating medical, physical, and psychological support. Children in low-income regions face significant barriers accessing specialised respiratory treatments as well as the additional burden of conditions such as malnutrition.
These programmes are crucial for improving respiratory muscle strength, enhancing physical functioning, and supporting overall child development. By assuming a holistic approach to the management of chronic respiratory conditions, pulmonary rehabilitation can improve quality of life, reduce hospitalisations, and mitigate long-term complications. Bridging these global gaps requires international collaboration and targeted healthcare interventions.
In this webinar, two speakers from ERS and PATS will discuss pulmonary rehabilitation in children. The webinar will be interactive by including voting questions in the presentations and by promoting an active Q&A session.
