Overview

This course provides health professionals with evidence-based knowledge and practical skills to effectively address tobacco use. It covers smoking cessation guidelines, health risks, and counselling techniques, while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. Participants will gain strategies to reduce tobacco prevalence and improve outcomes across diverse healthcare settings.

Learning outcomes

  • To acquire comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to address tobacco use in clinical settings.
  • To evaluate health risks associated with tobacco use and identify evidence-based cessation strategies.
  • To apply behavioural counselling techniques, including motivational interviewing.
  • To prescribe and manage pharmacological treatments for nicotine dependence.

  • To integrate tobacco cessation into routine clinical care.
  • To advocate for tobacco control policies and public health initiatives.
  • To contribute to reducing the burden of tobacco-related diseases in communities.

CME credits

An application will be submitted to the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP) for CME accreditation of this event.

 

The number of credits that you will receive will correspond to the time you spend viewing the sessions live. Please note that you need to join the live stream with the name that corresponds to your myERS profile to ensure that you receive the CME credits.

 

Participants will not accrue credits for watching video recordings made available after the course has taken place.

 

Bursaries

A limited amount of bursaries is available, which will cover the cost of the registration fee.

 

To be eligible to apply, you must be:

· Under 40 years old

· A member of ERS

 

Please note that only one bursary may be allocated per person for all ERS courses, per calendar year.

Cancellation policy

Upon receipt of a written cancellation, a refund of fees, minus €50 administrative fee, will be applied up to six weeks before the course. After this date, no refund will be made for cancellations.
