Lung transplantation in interstitial lung diseases

The latest episode of Curbside Consult focuses on lung transplantation in interstitial lung diseases.

Co-hosts Dr Emer Kelly (St Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland) and Dr Hitasha Rupani (University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, UK) are joined by Associate Prof. Federica Meloni (University of Pavia, Italy).

The experts discuss the case of a 58-year-old man with type 2 diabetes and hypertension who has been diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The patient has previously used two antifibrotic drugs but ceased taking one of them due to side effects and is experiencing a decline in lung function leading to an increase in symptoms.

Ask the Expert - formally Curbside Consult - is a video discussion series. In each episode, two experts have an informal discussion or a 'curbside consultation' - an informal process, well-accepted in medical practice, where physicians seek advice from colleagues to assist in the management of a particular issue for a particular patient.
