Overview

Taking place on 11 November, this ERS Vision Live panel discussion covered key areas, including:

  • when to suspect drug-induced lung toxicity;
  • radiological features of drug-induced lung toxicity;
  • drug-induced lung toxicity during lung cancer therapies.

Speakers

Prof. Vincent Cottin (Co-chair)

  • Vincent is Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Coordinator of the National Reference Center for Rare Pulmonary Diseases at the Louis Pradel Hospital and the University of Lyon, France.
  • His research interests include rare 'orphan' pulmonary diseases including all interstitial lung diseases and rare pulmonary diseases.
  • Vincent has served as elected Head of the ERS Clinical Assembly from 2009 to 2012.
  • He coordinates the network of rare diseases centers in France.
  • He has been Chief Editor of the European Respiratory Review, and Section Editor of the European Respiratory Journal where he is currently an associate editor and has been Associate Editor of Respiration.

Prof. Paolo Spagnolo (Co-chair)

  • Paolo is a full professor of respiratory medicine at the University of Padua, Italy; and Director of the Respiratory Unit at the University Hospital of Padua.
  • His main research interests include interstitial lung disease and sarcoidosis with emphasis on genetic predisposition, prediction of disease behaviour and clinical trials of novel therapies.
  • Paolo is the author or co-author of over 200 journal articles, review articles and editorials.
  • He is Editor-in-Chief of Sarcoidosis, Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases.

Dr Sara Piciucchi

  • Sara is a doctor at the Radiology Department of G.B. Morgagni-Pierantoni Hospital in Forlì, Italy, and is affiliated with the University of Bologna, Italy.
  • She completed her radiology residency at Campus Bio Medico of Rome University, Italy, as well as a master's in paediatric cardiology.
  • Sara has completed several fellowships and observerships in chest and cardiovascular imaging at leading institutions, including the Medical College of Wisconsin, Mayo Clinic Arizona, United Sates, and Thoraxklinik Heidelberg, Germany.
  • In addition to her clinical and academic roles, she serves as Secretary of the ERS Assembly 14 Imaging Group, and is an associate editor of Sarcoidosis, Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases.

Dr Nazia Chaudhuri

  • Nazia is a respiratory physician with a specialist interest in ILD.
  • She is a senior clinical lecturer at Ulster University, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, and Lead of the Northern Ireland ILD Network.
  • She is Chair of the British Thoracic Society (BTS) ILD Registry Working group and was Chair of the BTS Interstitial and Rare Lung Disease Specialist Advisory Group from November 2020 to 2023.
  • She is also a member of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) ILD Long Range Planning Committee, an ERS ILD mentor, and has recently been appointed as Secretary of the ERS Assembly 12 (ILD) Idiopathic Interstitial Pneumonia Group.

Prof. Philippe Bonniaud

  • Philippe is a professor of respiratory medicine and heads the "Institut Universitaire du Poumon" of Dijon University Hospital, France. He also coordinates the Constitutive Reference Center for Rare Pulmonary Diseases, France.
  • He conducts research on ILD, with a specific focus on drug-induced lung diseases.
  • From 2015-2018, he was Chair of ERS Assembly 3 (Basic and Translational Sciences) Molecular Pathology and Functional Genomics Group.
  • He has been a Fellow of the ERS since 2019.
