Speakers

Dr Janice Leung (co-Chair)

  • Janice is a respirologist at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada, and a principal investigator at the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation at the University of British Columbia where she is the Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Translational Airway Biology and the GlaxoSmithKline Chair in COPD.
  • Her research interests are in novel exposures leading to accelerated airways disease, including HIV, vaping, and cannabis smoking.

Prof. Des Cox

  • Des is a consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine at Children's Health Ireland (CHI), Crumlin.
  • He is the clinical lead of the respiratory department at CHI, Crumlin and was appointed a clinical professor with the School of Medicine, UCD in 2019.
  • He is a member of the RCPI clinical advisory group on tobacco and vaping and has led on a number of tobacco control advocacy issues in Ireland including Tobacco 21.
  • He is also a member of the ERS Tobacco Control Committee.
