Adult cystic fibrosis (CF) patient rate is currently increasing due to the novel treatment modalities and early diagnosis with newborn screening. More than 50% of CF patients living in US and Europe are adults and these adult patients are transitioned from paediatric to adult CF centres when they are 18-21 years old. Standardised transition process is available in most of these centres. Despite a standardised program, some particular problems are faced during this complex process. On the other hand, in undeveloped and developing countries adult CF patient rate is still under 50% and most of these centres don't have an official transition program. Therefore, the care of patients is influenced negatively during the transition process.
