A new CME Online module is now available which focuses on malignant pleural effusion.

This module is led by Prof. Najib Rahman (Oxford, UK), the module director, as well as Dr Amelia Clive (Bristol, UK) and Prof. Christian B. Laursen (Odense, Denmark), who will help to guide participants through the session.

Malignant pleural effusion is a common presentation in patients with cancer and may cause considerable breathlessness. Recent advances have created a growing number of treatment options for patients.

Leaders of this module will highlight the new and emerging data regarding the treatment of patients with malignant pleural effusion. There will be a discussion on the factors that impact on the decision-making process and how this impacts on the clinical management of individual patients.

After completing this module, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the management options for patients with malignant pleural effusion (MPE)
  • Identify factors that might impact on clinical decision making and patient choice
  • Outline the possible strategies to obtain a pleurodesis in MPE and how to maximise the chance of pleurodesis success
  • Discuss the role of IPCs in MPE management

This module is designed for medical professionals and patient advocates.

Take the module and collect a CME credit.
