Session aims
to present leading avenues of investigation that will enhance the participants’ understanding of early COPD and its progression, relevant molecular disease endotypes and preventive as well as therapeutic strategies; to discuss current advances in our knowledge of COPD immune mechanisms; to discuss how the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as (spatial) single-cell RNA sequencing can help to find more efficient therapies; to discuss novel translational and (pre)clinical development for therapeutic strategies, as well as scientific advancements that may direct current and future therapeutic development; to explain the need for COPD classification and further biomarker discovery for patient ‘endophenotyping’; to explain how changes in cell-cell interactions trigger molecular and pathological mechanisms responsible for disease onset and progression; to discuss how to use current advanced technologies to delineate novel targets for COPD drug discovery.
