Session aims
to describe the pulmonary-renal link in physiology and pathological conditions. Ito discuss the interorgan crosstalk, which is emerging as a key underlying pathophysiologic mechanism in both systemic (sepsis and critical illness) and organ-specific (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung disease) illnesses; to emphasize the interaction between the kidneys and lungs in pathological conditions that has been recently identified; to explain the clinical and therapeutic consequences of the crosstalk between the kidneys and lungs.
