Session aims
To review the state-of-the-art modalities and concepts used for lung functional imaging; to highlight the main applications of functional lung imaging in disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung diseases, lung diseases of infancy and cystic fibrosis; to describe how lung functional imaging provides unique insight into disease processes, and allows early-phase disease detection and precise lung functional phenotyping, and when and how it may provide imaging endpoints or biomarkers to assess new therapeutic interventions.
