Session aims
To analyse recent evolution of the landscape of lung transplant referral (change in the phenotype of “usual” indications such as cystic fibrosis and idiopathic lung disease due to recent therapeutic improvement, increased referral of older chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients who have previously undergone lung volume reduction surgery, increased number of comorbid candidates and increased requests for extracorporeal support bridges); to address existing immunosuppressive and future promising strategies for acute and chronic rejection, including cell-based therapies; to address translational issue by analysing new cellular and molecular assays available to help diagnose immune complications (acute and chronic rejection and chronic lung allograph dysfunction phenotyping).
