Session aims
to present the main updates of the newly released American Thoracic Society (ATS)/European Respiratory Society (ERS)/Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA)/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines on treating drug-susceptible and drug-resistant tuberculosis, which will be updated with other international recommendations, particularly those from the World Health Organization; to reflect on the challenges of keeping guidelines updated in the face of rapidly evolving scientific evidence; to discuss strategies to improve the implementation of updated recommendations in diverse clinical settings; to provide the patient perspective on the need for shorter, more effective and accessible treatment regimens.
