Overview

An update on the latest publications in the field of sleep-related breathing disorders (both clinical-epidemiological, and basic and translational research) as a 'Year in Review' together with a critical discussion of the studies by the Assembly Officers is of importance both for the experts in the field and for other pulmonologists and researchers.

 

The panellists will present a summary of the most important studies in the field of sleep-related breathing disorders, structured according to key topics, as a 'Year in Review'.

Topics:

  • Cardiovascular consequences of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA)
  • New prognostic markers in OSA
  • Sex differences in sleep-disordered breathing
  • New treatment concepts for OSA (e.g. MAD (mandibular advancement device) alternating with CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), sultiame)
  • New guidelines for the treatment of central sleep apnoea

Format

One-hour webinar with presentation and panel discussion including Q&A session.

Learning outcomes

Following this webinar, participants will be:

  • Familiar with the latest key publications in the field of sleep-disordered breathing
  • Aware of the changes, latest recommendations and future research priorities in the field

CME credit

An application for accreditation of this webinar has been made to the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP) for 1 CME credit per 1-hour attendance. If accredited, the CME credit will be granted upon attendance of at least 60 minutes during the live webinar only.

What is a webinar?

A webinar closely simulates a lecture-based teaching experience. The speaker can interact with the audience, just as in a classroom setting. During the webinar, you will be asked to share your opinion on issues related to the topic using interactive polls.

All participants will be able to hear the lecturer and see the slides throughout the presentation. As a participant you will be able to pose questions or discuss ideas with the other participants via the text chat facility and the speaker will respond to the questions via the microphone.
