Session aims
to increase knowledge through an interactive dialogue with purpose; to examine the current scientific evidence supporting and opposing the use of e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation tool; to promote critical thinking in order to encourage an unbiased, evidence-based discussion about the efficacy, safety and ethical considerations of e-cigarette use for smoking cessation; to address public health implications by exploring the broader public health ramifications of endorsing or restricting e-cigarettes for smoking cessation, including risks of youth vaping; to explore the long-term health outcomes and research gaps; to inform policy and practice by providing healthcare professionals, researchers and policymakers with up-to-date insights for decision-making regarding e-cigarette regulation and clinical recommendations; to weigh public health benefits against potential risks; to stimulate engagement among experts and the audience in order to provide perspectives, address uncertainties and highlight areas requiring further research.
