Session aims
to explain how to recognise children at high risk of respiratory infections and how to apply effective prevention strategies, including the use of new respiratory syncytial virus vaccines; to discuss the causes, early warning signs and effective treatments for severe lung infections such as pneumonia in order to reduce child mortality and complications; to discuss the evidence for the use of prophylactic antibiotics to prevent respiratory infections in children with chronic lung diseases, their impact on the microbiome and the risks of antibiotic resistance.
