to discuss the novel multidimensional evaluation of home-based monitoring for clinical care and research application in chronic lung disease; to explore the utility and potential barriers of implementing patient-reported outcome-based remote monitoring, including the need for cross-cultural adaptation; to describe how the design of decentralised clinical trials can improve access to respiratory research, as well as the necessary considerations and potential solutions; to focus on the development and implementation of remote care monitoring and decentralisation for respiratory care and research in low- and middle-income countries.
