to describe the most recent findings related to microbiome-targeted therapies for respiratory diseases; to discuss the most promising avenues that have been explored in both clinical and preclinical studies; to provide an interdisciplinary perspective, taking into account clinical respiratory medicine, basic and translational respiratory science, fundamental microbiology and ecology, and computational biology to provide an integrated overview of the complex interactions involved in microbiome-targeted therapy development.
