Session aims
This session aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of interventional pulmonology techniques for the diagnosis and management of complex pulmonary diseases. It will cover the procedural flow of cryobiopsy for diagnosing interstitial lung disease, including protected airway management, balloon placement, and fluoroscopic-guided transbronchial cryobiopsies. The session will also demonstrate thoracoscopy in malignant pleural disease, encompassing the use of rigid thoracoscopy, acquisition of histological samples, immediate histological assessment using Higher Harmonic Generation (HHG) microscopy, and the performance of talc pleurodesis. In addition, participants will gain insight into endobronchial valve treatment for COPD, including procedural aspects, anaesthesia, target lobe selection, procedural flow, measurement of collateral ventilation, valve sizing and placement.
