Session aims
to highlight the challenges to lung health amidst the growing number of novel tobacco products, which are very popular among the younger generation due to easy access and attractive advertising; to present evidence of e-cigarette- and vaping-related lung injury; to educate healthcare practitioners, such as respiratory function technologists, physiotherapists and nurses, on how they could promote lung health in the younger generation and help adults cease smoking; to illustrate how pulmonary function testing could be used in the early detection of e-cigarette- and/or vaping-related respiratory problems; to demonstrate the importance of a multidisciplinary approach for educating the younger generation about the harmful effects of smoking and vaping.
