Session aims
This session will explore the key outcomes of the 2025 ERS Presidential Summit, which emphasized prevention as the cornerstone of respiratory health. With over 80 million people in the WHO European Region affected by chronic respiratory diseases, the summit highlighted the urgent need to address preventable risk factors such as tobacco use, air pollution, and early-life exposures. It showcased the importance of early detection through digital tools, patient-centred care, and community-based models. The release of the first-ever WHO–ERS report on CRDs underscored their under-recognition and called for immediate policy action. This session will discuss the evidence, patient voices, and global policy opportunities driving a new era of proactive lung health strategies.
