How to make clinical trials more efficient (Workshops and sessions, 32nd ECCMID, 23-26 April 2022, Lisbon, Portugal)

ECRAID-Base is the core set of activities for Ecraid (the European Clinical Research Alliance for Infectious Diseases). Ecraid aspires to become the first of its kind: a pan-European clinical research network for infectious diseases in Europe. Over ECRAID-Base's five-year duration, Ecraid will evolve into a self-sustaining, not-for-profit organisation conducting clinical research for both public and private sponsors. Infectious diseases are a huge threat to our global society. To face this threat new ways of working together need to be adopted. Ecraid will be a foundation for collaboration. Only when we all truly collaborate, can we tackle infectious diseases.

Six perpetual clinical studies are at the heart of ECRAID-Base, all of which will mature towards adaptive platform trials with capability to respond to public health threats rapidly. One of the studies is REMAP-CAP - for patients with pneumonia in ICU - that swiftly adapted to COVID-19. The network will be supported by cross-cutting efforts on laboratory management, data management and training, ensuring efficient network management and continuous capacity building.

The ECRAID-Base project is funded by Horizon 2020 through the Grant Agreement n° 965313.
