Overview

Long COVID is a growing global health concern, with up to 10-30% of individuals experiencing persistent symptoms weeks to months after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. Respiratory symptoms such as breathlessness, cough, chest discomfort, and exercise intolerance are among the most common and debilitating, significantly impacting quality of life, work capacity, and healthcare utilisation. Understanding and managing the respiratory manifestations of long COVID is essential for timely diagnosis, appropriate intervention, and effective rehabilitation. This webinar addresses an urgent need to translate emerging research into clinical practice, guide multidisciplinary care, and provide evidence-based strategies to improve patient outcomes across diverse populations.

Topics:

  • Pathophysiology of exercise intolerance in long COVID

Format

One-hour webinar format: 45 minutes for presentation, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.

Learning outcomes

Following this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the key respiratory manifestations of long COVID.
  • Interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.
  • Apply current evidence to guide individualised patient management.
  • Be equipped to integrate multidisciplinary approaches including pulmonary rehabilitation and pharmacologic strategies into clinical care.
  • Educate patients on symptom progression, optimise follow-up plans, and advocate for ongoing support and research into post-COVID respiratory syndromes.

What is a webinar?

A webinar closely simulates a lecture-based teaching experience. The speaker can interact with the audience, just as in a classroom setting. During the webinar, you will be asked to share your opinion on issues related to the topic using interactive polls.

All participants will be able to hear the lecturer and see the slides throughout the presentation. As a participant you will be able to pose questions or discuss ideas with the other participants via the text chat facility and the speaker will respond to the questions via the microphone.
