Overview

Obesity is a hot topic, it affects large parts of the worlds population, it is anticipated that 3.8 billion people will be either overweight or obese by 2050. The prevalence rates of obesity are rising across the world, this is independent of the country (low income, middle income, high income country), age group (children as well as adults), or geopolitical area of the world. However, management and access to weight control interventions may differ regionally. The information provided in the proposed symposium are relevant to any healthcare professional, as well as policymakers and healthcare providers.

Format

One-hour webinar format: 45 minutes for presentation, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.

Learning outcomes

Following this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the impact of obesity on respiratory health (e.g. breathlessness, sleep disordered breathing, respiratory failure, asthma).
  • Learn about the effect of weight on respiratory disease (e.g. asthma control, obstructive sleep apnoea).
  • Raise awareness of obesity and its impact on global respiratory health and the implications for healthcare systems.
  • Understand global differences in the prevalence and management of obesity, and the respective impact on respiratory health.

An application for accreditation of this webinar has been made to the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP) for 1 CME credit per 1-hour attendance. If accredited, the CME credit will be granted upon attendance of at least 60 minutes during the live webinar only.
