2010 - Managing the lung of the extremely low gestational age neonate (ELGAN) in the delivery room

The objectives of this seminar were to discuss as an international team of experts new data on the physiology and pathophysiology of the lung in order to:

  • find an evidence based consensus on how to best facilitate the respiratory support of ELGANs, possibly stratified by GA and formulate ERS-Neonatal recommendations
  • to identify areas of most urgently needed research
  • to form international collaborations for research in order to answer such questions in large, multi-centre trials.
