2004 - Genotyping and Phenotyping of Diffuse Parenchymal Lung Diseases

Interstitial lung diseases as sarcoidosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis are rare dis?eases. Although all the techniques for phenotyping-genotyping-correlation studies are available, no single center can perform these studies due to the low prevalence of the named disorders. In particular, rare phenotypes of these diseases cannot be collected at one center in sufficient number. In view of the fact that sufficiently large cohorts could be recruited if the major European centers would cooperate the ERS research seminar "Genotyping and Phenotyping of Diffuse Parenchymal Lung Diseases" was held to set the stage for future cooperative studies.
